My story

Nortevant didn't just start today.

It started a long time before the company did. This is how I got here, and why I care about bringing people with AI rather than leaving them behind.

  1. 2004

    Where it started

I was born in 2004, into a family of people working in healthcare, running their own businesses and working within others. What I always saw was how they had people's best interests at heart. Helping others and the world of business were both around me from young, and I owe that to all of them.

  2. Age 7 or 8

    Presentations on the iPad

I was eager to learn new things and I really enjoyed school. At 7 or 8 I had an iPad, and I used it to create presentations on things I loved. Looking back, finding something exciting and wanting to explain it to people isn't far from what I do now.

  3. Around age 10

    The tech wizard

Plugging in the TV left my grandparents thinking I was a tech wizard. It made us laugh, but it showed me a generational gap in technology that I've always looked to bridge.

  4. 2020

    The exams that never happened

The pandemic meant I didn't get to sit my GCSEs, and I was disappointed. A lot of my time at Sixth Form ended up being online too. It showed me how much technology could keep going, and how much it couldn't replace being with people.

  5. 2022

    The spreadsheets

After my A Levels I started a job full of admin: Excel spreadsheets, manually inputting data, manually formatting documents. My days felt monotonous, and I kept wondering if there were easier ways to do it all. Then, in November, OpenAI announced ChatGPT. It greatly excited me, because all those questions suddenly had somewhere to go.

  6. 2023

    Choosing a challenge

The job wasn't challenging me enough, and it wasn't the right step for me at that time, so I left. I wanted to go back into education, and I found a degree at Leeds Beckett University, in my home city, that focused heavily on AI topics.

  7. University

    Fascinated, and concerned

Over three years I learned about AI in theory and in practice. I became a sort of AI enthusiast: not using it for every single thing, but fascinated by how incredible it is. I also learned what it costs. The data centres behind it use huge amounts of water, which is why I promise to give 10% of Nortevant's profits to water and environmental charities.

  8. My last module

    Education and hope

My last module at university asked whether humans could become obsolete. That idea made me determined to prove it wrong, and to create a fix using education and hope. AI taking over jobs was an angle that needed to be seen through a different lens. AI should inspire and empower people in the jobs they already have.

  9. 2026

    Proving it

I'll be honest. I'm young, and I don't have decades of client work behind me, and proving to myself that I'm capable of this has been a big part of the journey. But I've grown up with technology and watched AI rise from the very start. So I started Nortevant, not to push AI onto people, but to educate them and bring it in correctly, only where it's appropriate.

Why Nortevant?

I have Spanish roots, so the name comes from two Spanish words. Norte means north, a direction to head in. Levante means east, where the sun rises, and comes from the word for rising. Together they're what I want for the people I work with: moving forward, and rising with AI rather than passing it by.

Jack, founder of Nortevant

I want to do good in this world by empowering and helping others. If that's something your team could use, I'd love to help.
